Trip: I would like to give 4.5 stars instead or 4 or 5 stars. The activities were great and provided an interesting and promising overview of Peru. However, dinners usually lasted for 3 hours, food was good, but service was slow for group of 40, whether or not we pre-ordered from the menu. By the time we returned to the hotel room, we had to unpack or repack for next day, and shower before going to bed. I did not get sufficient sleep. Hotel at base of Machu Picchu, Incaterra, had mosquitoes, live and dead in the bathroom, and I was awaken twice at night due to mosquitoes bites that caused severe itchiness.

Service: Robert (Roberto) Campos, our Travel Concierge, was exemplary. He was always steps ahead, physically and mentally, anticipating the needs and wants from 40 tourists in our group. He was personal and attentive to changes, as needed from time to time due to altitude sickness, personal health issues and other commitments. He was simply indispensable and worked extremely hard for Luxury Gold and the tourists. He monitored and worked effectively with local guides. He spoke excellent English.

Trip: The order of the locations we visited were well plan with regard to attitude adjustment. The hotels were first class. The local tour guides were knowledgeable of their towns. They are all so proud of the local culture & history. And it shows and rub to the travelers. Lake Titicaca was my favorite. The only local visit I would recommend to eliminate is the coffee-making visit in Lima. The travelers were more the Starbucks-type - sweet, hot coffee. They didn't have the patience to wait for the cold coffee to drip, drip, drip, .....

Service: The tour concierge, Robert, was the best. He planned & took care of everything ahead and make sure every one is taken care. He went the extra mile to satisfy every reasonable request.

Trip: We got to see the natural beauty of the country, experience the culture and food, learn about pre-Incas and Incas culture, architecture and amazing history of Peru.

Service: The itinerary was well paced, the tour director was knowledgeable and passionate about his country, all logistics were organized and played out well. This tour could have been a bit strenuous with altitude and lots of walking/hiking, but it went well.

Trip: Well thought out, and very diverse.

Service: Our tour director, Roberto Campos was, by far, the most organized director that I have ever dealt with on any trip that I have taken with Luxury Gold, Insight, or any other tour company. He was "on top of every detail" from quick registration at each hotel, detailed preparations for each experience, and even pictorials of possible menu selections. Personally, he helped me on at least three occasions - lost glasses, ATM and money conversion, and directions to a pharmacy that I would never have been able to find on my own. He was always available to "smooth the way", but never intrusive. This was a trip that we had been waiting to take for several years, and Roberto made it an exciting, educational, and personally unique adventure. He loves his country, its people, and traditions and in shows in every aspect of the visit to Peru.

Trip: Not only did we see the iconic Machu Picchu (where we were able to spend a full day) and the floating islands of Lake Titicaca, but we had lunch in a family’s home, participated in a Pachamama ceremony, and so much more that other tours don’t include.

Service: Luxury Gold is definitely the way to go in Peru. Roberto took care of every detail. All meals except for 2 dinners and 2 lunches were included. We had great local guides and saw cultural aspects that other tours don’t include.

Trip: Loved all the local influences on the itinerary - a weaving demonstration, hat making, a pachumamma ceremony, visiting a local family on the floating islands. The local guides were very knowledgeable. This gave us a much deeper understanding of the Peruvian culture than we would have gotten otherwise. Having a full day at Machu Picchu was amazing - the morning with a local guide and then the afternoon on our own to explore was very special.

Service: The customer focus of our traveling concierge Roberto was amazing. He was constantly working to make sure that all of the tour participants had everything they needed. This started with his focus on making sure that everyone knew the schedule for the next day’s activities to personally delivering luggage to rooms if needed. He dealt with an occasional room issue, the need for local doctors, etc - all with calmness and patience.

Trip: Educational seeing how they live in Peru

Service: Roberto, and the other tour guides were excellent

Trip: A couple of items could have been passed over to slow down the pace just a little but overall was a very good tour.

Service: Customer service so far has been very good. Still waiting on some medical issues that surfaced during the tour to be cleared up. Roberto our tour guide was excellent and would highly recommend him. He went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a great time.

  • 28 August, 2018

Trip: The only way to see this area.

Service: Our concierge Roberto went way beyond what is expected to make we were well looked after.

Trip: Awesome itinerary! We never would have experienced the things we did if we had tried to arrange them ourselves.

Service: Every detail was well thought out and completed to perfection. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone.

Trip: The Peruvian itinerary provides experience of the many highlights of the country, as well as opportunities to meet real people. It was a joy to experience locals.

Service: I scheduled the tour through a local travel agent. The Luxury Gold staff were very responsive and dealt with several variations and changes in details. Customer service seems very important to the Luxury Gold team. The tour director, Roberto, was always committed to the interests of his customers. He dealt with various individuals, while pursuing the interests of the others. Bravo!

    Trip: See above................................................

Service: Guides, Meal, luggage transportation and sightseeing excursions were excellent. Loved the little extra things like lunch cooked in the ground and visiting the lama farm. Hotels were excellent, except for in Machu Picchu which was too rustic (queen bed, no central Heat/AC - only small electric heater in bedroom - no heat in bathroom. Would have prefered to have more details about daily departure times/ arrival times available earlier vs just day by day. Having the doctor come to the hotel was very nice. Francisco (our guide) also met with the nurse to help translate. Only complaint is the way our "temporary departure" from the trip was handled. Our guide was excellent - he keep following up and checking on us. The problem was with the communication between the tour company and Luxury Gold. Francisco said they would handle everything and that someone should call us with flight information within 1 hour/1 1/2 hours. No one called, so we got the number for the travel agent. Again she said she would call back soon. We had already checked flights and knew there were many flights back to Lima that morning. We were stuck in the hotel room waiting for a call with the flight times. Finally, Francisco called and said they had us booked for a 2:30 flight, but then the travel agent called and said it wasn't booked and they couldn't book it. It was all very confusing. They offered to take us to the airport, but I didn't want to go and sit at the airport if we didn't have a flight booked. At this point, we said we would handle it. There were not many flights left that afternoon/evening and they were more expensive too. We were in the hall, trying to book our our flight, when the hotel found us and said the driver was on their way to pick us up and they had us booked. We were not sure if there was enough time to make the flight, which caused some additional stress. As I said earlier, it was all very confusing. Once we go picked up - the service was wonderful. We did arrive in time and the people (Marila - I think her name was) from the travel agent were very helpful in booking our ticket and handling our bags. The driver was at Lima airport to pick us up and take us to our hotel. The big problem was waiting at the hotel room for hours trying to find out our travel information. Then having to pay more for the flight vs having the earlier cheaper flight options.
