Step into the heartland of soul music, as you travel from Nashville through Memphis on to New Orleans. Take your reserved seat at the world-famous Grand Ole Opry in Nashville and enjoy a private meeting and tour alongside Elvis’ close friend at Graceland, Memphis. Along the way, you’ll meet local singer-songwriters, taste the region’s renowned cuisine and experience southern hospitality at its best.

  1. Day 1

    Arrive in Nashville.

Upon arrival at Nashville International Airport, you will be met and taken to your downtown hotel. Relax and settle in or start your exploration of the world's country music capital. At 18:00, join you Travelling Concierge for a Welcome Dinner with wine.

  2. Day 2

    Enjoy Nashville’s Musical History.

Enjoy a tour of historic Studio B and take home a copy of a choir-style recording session as a one-of-a-kind souvenir. Visit the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, full of memorabilia. Your Local Expert, a songwriter and singer, will share stories behind the biggest hits sung by well-known country music stars. No trip to Nashville would be complete without a visit to the Grand Ole Opry. Attend a live taping of America's longest-running live radio programme.

  3. Day 3 - Relaxed Start

Memphis and Graceland, Home of 'the King'.

Travel from the home of country music to the birthplace of blues and rock 'n' roll, where your day is at leisure to explore. The evening is devoted to Graceland, as much an object of pilgrimage as a museum dedicated to the great Elvis Presley. From the flowers outside the gates, to the tear-streaked cheeks of fans inside, see the effect that Elvis and his music had on popular American culture. Meet George Klein, Elvis' close friend, and enjoy a casual dinner with wine.

  4. Day 4 - Relaxed Start

Sun Studios and National Civil Rights Museum.

Visit Sun Studios, where artists like Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash recorded revolutionary albums. Later, visit the National Civil Rights Museum tracing the history of the Civil Rights Movement in the United States from the 17th century to the present.

  5. Day 5

    Mississippi Mystique in Natchez.

Depart for Natchez, founded by the French in 1716 when it became home to a flowering colonial culture. At your charming, luxury country mansion inn, whet your palate during a mixology class and learn the 'science' behind the signature drink of the South, the Mint Julep. Then enjoy a delectable four-course Highlight Dinner with wine in the stunning main house.

  6. Day 6

Frogmore, Houmas House and New Orleans

With your costumed hosts, tour the reconstructed 19th century Frogmore Plantation and compare it to the modern day operation. Get a glimpse into the sweet side of the South with a visit to Houmas House Plantation, often referred to as 'The Sugar Palace' during its antebellum heyday. In the evening, visit the New Orleans School of Cooking. Discover the flair of Creole cuisine during a lively cooking demonstration and enjoy the culinary creations over a special Highlight Dinner with wine.

  7. Day 7 - Relaxed Start

    New Orleans Sightseeing

Join a Local Expert for an atmospheric tour of the city. Learn about its rich history steeped in the myriad of cultures that have found a new home here over the centuries. See Jackson Square and the Treme neighbourhood. Explore City Park and take a moment to perhaps enjoy a café au lait while admiring the graceful oak trees. Next, visit one of the city's famous above ground cemeteries and learn about the local's uniquely joyful perspective on life and death.

  8. Day 8 - Relaxed Start

Exploring New Orleans, the Big Easy.

Start the day with a bayou expert on the rural side of the Crescent City, as you board a boat to meet the resident alligators and other fauna and flora. Enjoy some free time before gathering with your new friends and toasting to lifelong memories during a Farewell Celebration Dinner, with wine, at the famous New Orleans restaurant, Arnaud's.

Trip: Getting into Gracelands after all the rest of tourists had gone which gives you the edge over other companies

Service: very good we only had 15 people on this tour so it made it more personal we thank missey for her excellent skils for a great trip

  • 07 October, 2018

Trip: The "off the beaten track" extras made the whole journey one I will always remember fondly.

Service: They went above and beyond. Nothing was left to chance. The whole experience was totally professional and made the journey unforgettable.

  • 06 October, 2018

Trip: We felt we had too much free time in New Orleans, our friends who traveled with Tauck seemed much more engaged in New Orleans.

Service: After several trips with Luxury Gold receiving an E-mail package created a great deal of confusion. Our travel agent was also confused.

Trip: Grand Old Opry, Country Music Hall of Fame, Grace Land, Sun Records, Studio B, Swamp People, Natchez River Boat, Monmouth, etc is a fantastic trip. To see all this and more in 8 days was terrific.

Service: This was the very best guided trip we've ever been on. Our guide, Missy Weeks, was great. She is a real people person that everyone praised. She went out of her way to provided us with special events. Our driver, Howard, did a great job and mixed well with the vacationers.

Trip: Great all well organised and very interesting

Service: Everything was well organised - the tour director Missy Chapman was very well informed, very helpful when required, just generally great. As was our driver Howie. The only thing we were a little disappointed with was the coach as it was not as comfortable as we had experienced with a Insight tour a couple of weeks prior to this one - the footrest on the Gold's was not satisfactory and the headrest was not as comfortable ... but not something we couldn't cope with (just a thought). Having everything included meant no added expense - the hotels were excellent so we have nothing to complain about and would certainly go Gold again.

  • 30 June, 2018

    Trip: Amazing and interesting places.

    Service: Excellent

  • 18 June, 2018

Trip: the places we visited were very good and the itinerary was excellent, however the route taken was exceptionally boring when we could have travelled on the highway along the Mississippi river. The views from the bus were just bushy scrub trees.

Service: Our guide seemed a little disorganized and not as knowledgeable as she should have been on the areas of South we covered. Some of the included meals were very poor.

  • 10 June, 2018

Trip: Had just the right amount of time to myself

Service: It was done to a very high standard and Anne was excellent
