    Vaduz and St. Moritz.

Journey to Vaduz, the capital of the Principality of Liechtenstein. Known for being one of Europe's smallest countries, Liechtenstein is dotted with medieval castles, traditional villages and dramatic mountains. On arrival, ascend the Julier Pass until you reach the sparkling Engadine Valley and the chic, jet-set resort of St. Moritz. Dine in style at a local restaurant in the evening.

  4. Day 4 - Relaxed Start

    The Roof of Europe.

In the morning, join a nature guide for an included mountain hike, if the weather permits, or perhaps spoil yourself with a spa treatment? Enjoy the afternoon at your leisure, perhaps shopping in the designer boutiques or going for a hike on one of the many breathtaking mountain trails. Alternatively, enjoy the fineries of your prestigious hotel, which boasts a selection of gourmet restaurants, a luxury spa and a tennis-and-squash centre.

  5. Day 5

    All Aboard The Glacier Express.

Step aboard the world-famous Glacier Express and take your First Class seats for a spectacular ride through the heart of the Swiss Alps. Descend through the spiral tunnels of the Albula Pass and over the lofty Landwasser Viaduct. Picturesque landscapes of ice-capped mountains and stone-built villages, with chalet-style houses, will be in sight as you ascend to the highest point of the route, 2,033 metres to the icy Oberalp Pass. The modern panorama viewing-car means you won't miss a thing on your descent to Andermatt. Arrive in Zermatt in the late afternoon where you’re escorted to your hotel. As dusk descends, Zermatt offers a wealth of dining possibilities. This evening you’re invited to choose from a hand-picked selection of fine local restaurants and authentic menus.

  6. Day 6 - Relaxed Start

    Zermatt and Gornergrat Experience.

Board the cogwheel train that winds slowly up the Gornergrat Mountain, the highest open-air railway in Europe. As you travel through the aromatic forests and alpine meadows, keep an ear out for the soft chiming of cowbells in the background. From the summit, expect superb views of the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa, Switzerland's highest peaks. In the afternoon, spend time at leisure, perhaps browsing the shops of Zermatt or enjoying a swim and spa treatment at your five-star hotel?

  7. Day 7

Chillon Castle and The French Bank of Lake Geneva.

Journey along the Lower Rhone Valley to the shores of Lake Geneva. Marvel at the grandeur of one of Europe’s largest lakes, known for inspiring the early European Romantic movement. Visit beautiful Chillon Castle, former home to the Counts of Savoy, set on a rocky islet in the lake. Following his walk through the dungeons, Lord Byron was inspired to write the poem, ‘The Prisoner of Chillon.' Look out for his name, which he carved into a pillar. In the afternoon, drive along the French Bank of Lake Geneva passing the resort town of Évian-les-Bains, famous for its Natural Mineral Water. Once in Geneva, arrive at Hotel d'Angelterre, perfectly situated on the banks of the Lake. Voted No. 1 Hotel in Switzerland by Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards 2017, the hotel blends British charm with the finest Swiss hospitality. This evening, you’re invited for a special dinner at La Ferme de l’Hospital. This former farmhouse, now a Michelin-starred restaurant led by chef Jean Jacques Noguier, offers a creative menu using only the freshest seasonal ingredients, and a large selection of local wines.

  8. Day 8 - Relaxed Start

    Highlights of Geneva.

Join your Travelling Concierge for an orientation of Geneva with stops at the Floral Clock and the Reformation Monument, before enjoying the rest of the day at your leisure. Perhaps have High Tea in the afternoon at your hotel or enjoy a cocktail and live music in the Leopard Bar? Walk across the road to the banks of Lake Geneva and watch the sun dip beyond the mountains.

  9. Day 9

La Gruyère and on to Lucerne.

Journey through story-book Alpine scenery en route to see the dairy cattle of La Gruyère, famous for producing delicious milk and cheese. Visit Maison Cailler in the village of Broc where chocolate production has been raised to a specialised art form. Travel to the lovely medieval town of Gruyères, Switzerland's cheese manufacturing mecca. For your Highlight Lunch, savour the region’s most famous culinary treat with a pot of bubbling fondue and a glass of chilled white wine. Continue on to beautiful Lucerne where sightseeing with your Travel Concierge shows you its many highlights. Join a Military Expert at the Vitznau Artillery Fortress, carved into the mountainside, to discover the munitions halls, galleries and armaments, which date back to World War II. Enjoy some leisure time in the afternoon. Trip: We saw many of the most well-known cities and attractions in Switzerland. Our travel by bus showed us continual views of the grandeur of the alps. We also traveled on the Glacier Express Railway from St. Moritz to Andermatt, up the side of Gornergrat Mountain on a cogwheel train, and finished our tour with a trip up Stanserhorn Mountain on a cable car for a luxurious meal in a rotating restaurant at the top. Every hotel provided luxurious accommodations with an amazing breakfast buffet. The hotels were located within easy walking distance of commerce and restaurants. In Geneva our hotel was half a block from the walkway along the water, which we could see from the balcony of our room. We enjoyed several very interesting tours - Chillon Castle, a chocolate factory - with samples!, a World War II Artillery Fortress hidden in a mountain, a Swiss fondue lunch followed by time in the village of Gruyères to buy the delicious cheese, and a late-afternoon boat ride on Lake Geneva. Our trip was an experience we will never forget!

Service: Our travel concierge was amazing. He was organized, personable, and very well informed about the terrain we were traveling through, as well as the history. He planned ahead to get orders for our dinners together so that we just walked in and the food was ready for us! Martin seemed tireless as he walked and narrated, pointing our so many things. He also made good suggestions for where we could find good meals when we were on our own.

Trip: A well organized itinerary with the most important sights.

Service: Yes, would definitely recommend Luxury Gold again. From the very comfortable bus and excellent bus driver (Marcel) to the outstanding expertise, knowledge, intelligence, organization, friendliness, wit and charm and warmth of our Travel Concierge, Sue Mason, the trip exceeded our expectations. The hotels and service were wonderful. The combination of escorted sightseeing and independent leisure time made for a wonderful balance. The five cities on Majestic Switzerland were breathtaking. Other modes of transportation such as the boat ride, glacier express, cable car, cog railroad, etc., were varied and exciting. Meeting travel companions from around the world made for a very interesting experience. Pick up to airport and delivery home was a an added pleasure.

Trip: Itinerary was good, not too fast paced and enjoyed free time as you could go off and explore different places. Overall, hotels we stayed at were comfortable and clean.

Service: Our tour concierge, Susan, was excellent as she was able to provide good knowledge of the regions we travelled to and made the tour easy for us, meaning she promptly attended to any issues that arose. Susan gave us options on how to spend and maximise our free time. Our bus drivers, Marcel and Michael were excellent too. The transfer from airport to hotel went smoothly, tour itinerary was good, not too fast paced. The welcome dinner was average though but the rest of the included dinners were good. This was our second tour with Insight Vacations and we would travel with them again.
