  1. Day 1

    Cairo at leisure

Welcome to Egypt. On arrival, you are transferred to your hotel, a former royal palace combined with twin towers and six acres of gardens.

  2. Day 2

    Cairo sightseeing

Meet your Egyptologist for a pre-tour briefing. Then journey out to Giza, to the only remaining Wonder of the Ancient World. Venture inside one of the famous pyramids and marvel at the enigmatic Sphinx. The next stop is the Egyptian Museum, housing the priceless artefacts recovered from the tomb of Tutankhamun. In the evening, get to know your Travelling Concierge and fellow guests over a Welcome Drink at the hotel. Later, as night falls, return to Giza to attend a magical Sound & Light Show at the world famous pyramids, which literally illuminates the ancient history of Giza.

  3. Day 3

Fly to Luxor to join your cruise

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Luxor. Visit Karnak, the largest temple complex ever built by man. Walk through the avenue of ram-headed sphinxes, past the statue of Rameses II, to the vast Hypostyle Hall, housing 134 giant decorated columns. Then board your luxury cruise ship - one of the most stylish and spacious in Egypt. Cruise to Dendera, one of the most culturally significant sites along the Nile. In the evening, enjoy an on-board Gala Reception and dinner.

  4. Day 4

The Temple of Hathor and Luxor

Visit the Temple of Hathor in the morning. Built in the 1st century BC it remains one of the best preserved temples in all Egypt and contains a rare depiction of Cleopatra VII and Caesarian, the son of Julius Caesar. Cruise back to Luxor for some leisure time before visiting the UNESCO designated Temple of Luxor. Founded in 1,400 BC, during Thebe's Golden Age, it’s a stunning sight at sunset.

  5. Day 5

The West Bank and Valley of the Kings

Travel by air-conditioned coach to the West Bank of the Nile. Stop for photos at the Colossi of Memnon – these gigantic twin stone statues of Amenhotep III once guarded his mortuary temple. Move on to the amazing Temple of Hatshepsut, Egypt’s first female pharaoh who ruled from 1,479 to 1,458 BC. Next, visit the Valley of the Kings, one of the most famous archeological sites in the world and burial place of Tutankhamun, whose mummified remains are still here on display. Continue to a working bakery and witness the local artisans creating authentic Egyptian bread. Return to your cruise boat and set sail for Kom Ombo. At night, join in the fun at an Egyptian dinner and a lively galabeya party.

  6. Day 6 - Relaxed Start

Kom Ombo and meeting the locals

(Relaxed Start) Visit the unique double-temple of Kom Ombo in the morning, dedicated to both the crocodile-headed Sobek and the Falcon God, Horus the Elder. In this sacred place near the riverbank, captive crocodiles were worshipped in life and mummified after death. Then relax and enjoy a visual feast as you cruise along the Nile to Aswan. Don your sunglasses beneath the white sails of a traditional Nile felucca and enjoy a peaceful ride around Kitchener’s Island. Back on-board in the evening, you are treated to a traditional Egyptian belly dancing performance.

  7. Day 7

    Disembark at Aswan

Sightseeing includes a visit to the modern Aswan High Dam and the ancient Granite Quarries, where an unfinished obelisk still lies attached to the bedrock. Next, travel by motorboat to the beautiful Philae temple complex, moved stone-by-stone to its current location following the construction of the High Dam. Later, take a small boat ride along the banks of the Nile, looking out for colourful native birds as you travel to a small Nubian village. Visit the traditional dwelling of a local family and enjoy Nubian-style hospitality as you learn more about the area's unique culture. In the afternoon check into the colonial-era Old Cataract Hotel. You are at leisure to explore or relax by the pool. As the sun starts to set, enjoy a traditional English-style high tea.

  8. Day 8

    Aswan – Cairo

(Relaxed Start) With the morning free, perhaps take an optional experience by air to visit the amazing temples of Abu Simbel? Later, transfer to the airport for your flight back to Cairo where the afternoon is entirely at leisure.

  9. Day 9

    Cairo sightseeing 2

Visit the Citadel for breath-taking views over the city. It owes its present outline to Mohammed Ali, whose great Alabaster Mosque you will visit next. Put your bargaining skills to the test at the Khan El Khalili bazaar.

  10. Day 10

    Depart Cairo

Sadly, your tour comes to an end today. There are transfers to Cairo Airport for your onward flight home.
